Community Grant – Application Form
The Community Grants Program provides financial assistance to community organisations and individuals for programs, activities, events and other projects.
These initiatives must enhance cultural, social, sporting, recreational and economic development opportunities for residents and businesses within TSIRC’s local government area.
A maximum of $2,500 per individual or $10,000 per community organisation is available.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a current TSIRC resident, or a not-for-profit community-based entity
- The project of activity must be in the public interest
- The project or activity must benefit current TSIRC’s residents
- The project or activity must provide beneficial outcomes for the community and bring back new experiences, knowledge or skills that are in the public interest.
Applications must not be for a project or activity that:
- does not involve a Torres Strait Island Regional Council resident or community
- exceeds the maximum annual application amount per individual or community entity
- is paid to auspice entities (purchase orders only)
The following projects are ineligible:
- Birthdays, baptisms or dedications
- Tombstone unveilings
- Weddings and engagements
- Cultural initiations
Only applications that meet the eligibility criteria will be considered.
For projects that do not meet the eligibility criteria, other grant opportunities may be available through Torres Shire Council, NIAA and other organisations.
Deadlines
We review applications monthly. Please lodge your application with us by 5pm on the last Friday of the month.
If you have an application for an event/activity/project that occurs before the next Council meeting, please submit your application by the monthly deadline 2 months prior.
