Health & Wellbeing
We offer opportunities for people living in our communities to enjoy similar levels of physical, emotional and social wellbeing experienced by other Australians
Service Overview
We deliver health and wellbeing initiatives in partnership with both the State and Federal Governments. We oversee several programs that aim to foster positive health and wellbeing mindsets across the outer Torres Strait islands.
Residents situated across the Torres Strait islands are encouraged to utilise and take part in a range of programs that foster and advocate for good levels of health and wellbeing.

Key Initiatives
Healthy Lifestyle Officers
Our Healthy Lifestyle Officers are a key resource to increase community awareness about the importance of physical activity and practicing healthy behaviours/ lifestyles.
Digital inclusion
Our Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKC’s) are an ongoing, joint partnership with Queensland’s State Library. IKCs are safe, welcoming spaces for outer island communities to connect, learn, share knowledge, and tell their stories.
TSIRC staff members and Torres Strait based IKC Coordinators take part in bi-annual workshops that focus on digital inclusivity. They learn new digital skills that can be passed on to community members at their respective IKC centres across the outer islands.
Visit our Indigenous Knowledge Centre page for more information.
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program
The service providers in this program deliver a mix of aged care services, mainly in rural and remote areas. Visit our Aged care page for further information.
