Useful Information

We offer two aged care support programs for residents in our communities: The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and the Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS).

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) offers domestic assistance, social support, personal care, other food services, flexible respite, home modifications, transport and goods and equipment.

Eligibility criteria: 65 years and over (50 years and over for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). Or 50 years and over (45 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), on a low income and homeless, or at risk of being homeless.

The program provides support for people with low level care needs who wish to remain at home. Basic support services include household help, meal preparation and delivery, personal care and transport.

Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS)

The Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS) offers in-home support and community connection support services.

Eligibility criteria: Under 65 years old (or under 50 years old for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people), and not eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The program provides low intensity supports to assist residents to live independently, increase connections and participate in your local community, thereby reducing social isolation.

Associated costs

There are no fees associated with these services.

Locations

Both programs are offered across all communities in the Torres Strait.
