Other Information

Road management

We are responsible for maintaining bitumen, concrete, paver, and unsealed roads throughout our communities. Our oversight extends to two bridges, curbs, culverts, and stormwater drains. Additionally, we manage road closures as needed.

Unsealed roads

There are 20.6km of unsealed roads across the region. Driving on unsealed roads can be difficult depending on the weather. When dry, unsealed roads can create dust that lowers your visibility. After heavy rain, unsealed roads can develop potholes and become muddy, boggy and slippery. Stay safe by driving slowly, allowing enough distance between yourself and any vehicle ahead, and adapting your driving to suit the conditions.

Obey road closure signs

Roads may be closed due to flooding or landslips. Please obey road closure signs – they are there for your safety. Never drive through floodwaters. If it’s flooded, forget it!

Recently opened roads

Please drive carefully on recently reopened roads. They may still be drying if they were opened after flooding, and road surfaces can be uneven following resurfacing or pothole repairs.

Reporting road hazards or emergencies

You can report road damage, potholes, or hazards to your Divisional Office. For emergencies such as bushfires, landslides, and flooding, please call 000. The Council will evaluate the need for any road closures.

Be safe on the roads

Avoid driving through floodwaters, as it is extremely dangerous and can be life-threatening. Stay away from areas affected by controlled burns and bushfires. You should only drive during a bushfire as a last resort or if specifically instructed to do so. Always obey road closure signs and other traffic directives.
