Key Initiatives

Indigenous Knowledge Centres

The Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKCs) are a partnership with Queensland's State Library, dedicated to providing innovative technology, literacy, and learning programs that empower our communities through shared learning experiences. We collaborate with local communities to preserve their knowledge, culture, and heritage, ensuring that our traditions remain strong for future generations.

Local Art Centres

The outer islands of the Torres Strait are celebrated for their vibrant traditional dance, music, arts, crafts, stories, and languages. Hundreds of talented artists contribute to the region, with three independent art centres creating high-quality artwork showcased at festivals and exhibitions worldwide. The Council is proud to support and promote these local artists and art centres.
