New Vehicles and Machinery to Support Local Teams
Council’s Fuel and Fleet department is currently progressing the purchase and delivery of new white and yellow fleet vehicles to support operations across several island communities. This significant investment strengthens Council’s capacity to deliver essential services and ensures local teams are equipped with reliable, fit-for-purpose vehicles and machinery.
Several islands have already received new white fleet vehicles, along with mini excavators to assist with maintenance works, infrastructure projects and day-to-day operational tasks. The arrival of this equipment has enhanced efficiency on the ground, reduced downtime and improved the ability of crews to respond promptly to community needs. Additional vehicles and machinery are scheduled for delivery in the coming months.
As part of ongoing asset management and quality assurance processes, our Fuel & Fleet team members Maryanne and Josephine recently travelled to most islands in November to conduct comprehensive stocktakes. Their visits focused on reviewing existing fleet and equipment, ensuring inventory records are accurate, identifying items that require replacement, and assessing overall condition and usability.
During their time in the communities, they also worked closely with local staff to identify opportunities for improvement and to raise and address any workplace health and safety concerns. These site visits play an important role supporting safe work practices and ensuring equipment remains in good working order.
Through continued investment, regular stocktakes and strong collaboration with the teams on Division, Fuel and Fleet remains committed to delivering safe, efficient and reliable fleet services across all communities.
