On the Ground Progress: Clean-Up and Housing Upgrades

Our team at the Department of Building Services Unit (BSU) continues to make strong progress across the region, focusing on two essential areas: cleaning up building sheds and legacy building waste and delivering critical housing upgrades.
Clean-Up Efforts Continue
Clean-up works are underway across several divisions, targeting building sheds and legacy building waste to provide safe work environments and improve functionality for staff and contractors. This month, a major clean-up commenced at the Boigu compound—a site that presents considerable logistical and operational challenges. Despite the scale of the task, our team is working diligently to transform the area into a clean and safe working space.
Housing Upgrade Program Making Headway
Our Housing Upgrade Program, delivered in partnership with QBuild, continues to advance despite regional constraints. The team regularly faces freight delays, limited resources and harsh weather conditions, yet the program is tracking well.
Recent works include successful upgrades to roofing and kitchen facilities, essential improvements that greatly enhance the safety, functionality, and overall liveability of social housing properties. These transformative upgrades are not only in appearance, but also in creating more comfortable and durable living environments for community members. They stand as a reflection of our team’s strong commitment, and TSIRC Mission, to “improve our communities’ livability in all we do”.
