Operational Progress at Iama and Saibai STPs
In October, Engineering Officers at the Iama and Saibai Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs) made great strides in improving operational processes, supported by a visit from Aron Smith from Water Process Services.
Aron’s visit provided an important opportunity for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Throughout the sessions, our Engineering Officers were highly engaged and eager to deepen their understanding of plant operation. Their enthusiasm and strong commitment to continuous improvement were evident, reflecting their growing confidence and capability in managing critical infrastructure.
The positive momentum on the ground is encouraging, and it highlights the value of investing in training and strengthening local technical expertise. These efforts not only support reliable service delivery but also empower our communities by building strong, skilled teams within the region.
Aron shared that he thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Torres Strait and expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the visit. A special thanks goes to the dedicated teams at Iama and Saibai for their warm welcome — particularly Francis, Mark, Manuel, Fred, Adolf, Eliab and Frank.
