Water Team Attends AWA Conference

In early August, members of our Water and Wastewater team – Emma Evans, Albert Bann, Mark David, Patrick Whittington and Edward Mosby – attended the Australian Water Association (AWA) North Queensland Conference in Cairns.

This year’s theme, “The Water Rollercoaster: Thriving in Extremes,” explored how the water industry, local communities and infrastructure providers can work together to thrive through floods, droughts and everything in between.

The conference provided an opportunity to catch up with suppliers, consultants and peers from other councils, some for the first time face-to-face. It was a valuable chance to connect and reconnect, strengthening TSIRC’s wider support network in the water and wastewater space.

Across the two days, the team engaged in technical learnings and discussions, heard stories of overcoming water challenges and crisis, explored opportunities for community engagement and discovered new and emerging technologies.

During the program, the team attended a site tour at the Cairns Water Security Stage 1 Project, which offered insight into large-scale approaches to water sustainability and resilience.

By attending, our TSIRC officers continue to build knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and ensure our communities benefit from the latest innovations and best practices in the water sector.
