Years of Service, Years of Impact

Certificates recognising years of service have recently been presented to dedicated staff across Masig, Mabuiag, Iama and Hammond. A special congratulations goes to Maggie Kelly, Division Manager on Iama, who has achieved an incredible milestone of over 25 years of service! These awards acknowledge the hard work, loyalty, and positive impact each recipient continues to make in their communities. Long-serving employees across our region will continue to be recognised over the coming months.
On Masig, congratulations went to John Mene, Engineering Officer, for an impressive 15 years of dedicated service. Mabuiag saw two significant milestones celebrated, with Safety & Wellbeing Officer Manuel Crossfield marking 10 years, and Divisional Engineering Officer Frank Whap recognised for two decades of contribution.
Iama had a particularly strong showing of long service achievements. Operations Manager Wastewater Albert Bann, Engineering Officer Manual Kepa, and MSAO Eleanor China (who was unable to attend) were each acknowledged for 20 years of commitment to their roles and community. Maggie Kelly’s 25-year milestone was a highlight of the celebration, recognising her leadership, dedication, and long-standing service to Iama and the wider Council.
Hammond also had reason to celebrate, with Cleaner Alice Garnier and Engineering Officer Henry Dorante – each recognised for 10 years, and After School Care Coordinator Christine Garnier marking 15 years of valued service.
On each island, staff came together for a morning or afternoon tea to honour these milestones. Words of appreciation were shared for each team member, highlighting their contributions both in their current roles and, where applicable, in previous positions with Council. The celebrations were warm and heartfelt, with a few tears shed as colleagues reflected on years of shared work, dedication and community impact.
