Our Environmental Health Workers (EHWs) Are Transforming Animal Management.

A dedicated group of TSIRC Environmental Health Workers (EHWs) embarked on their Certificate IV in Animal Management journey back in 2023, travelling to Cherbourg alongside fellow EHWs and Animal Management Officers (AMOs) from across Far North Queensland.

Throughout this training, our EHWs gained invaluable insights into the unique challenges faced by different communities. They deepened their understanding of Local vs. State Laws, Animal Welfare, and Animal Behaviour, all essential to supporting responsible pet ownership and community wellbeing.

Fast forward to February 2025, our EHWs recently completed their final face-to-face training in Bamaga (Feb 17-21). This last session provided an opportunity for students to finalise assessments while applying their skills in real-world scenarios. From microchipping cats and dogs to community awareness campaigns and providing essential pet treatments like ParaGard tablets, our team is now even better equipped to make a difference!

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in this journey! Your dedication to improving animal management across our communities is truly inspiring, eso.Â
