Torres Strait Island Regional Council is pleased to share the TSIRC 2026–27 Original Budget.

The budget continues to deliver essential services and infrastructure for our 15 Torres Strait Island communities today, while planning for a sustainable future.

In 2026–27, Council is investing in:

  • $84.5M Capital Works Program
  • $110.9M operational spending, excluding depreciation

The Capital Works Program is supported by $81.3M in State and Commonwealth grants. Major projects include jetties across several divisions, community building upgrades, airport upgrades, coastal defence and flood prevention works, mechanics shed infrastructure, childcare facilities and sewer pump stations.

The TSIRC 2026–27 Original Budget also supports the continued delivery of essential community services, including fuel, roads, lighting, housing, water, sewerage, parks, libraries and childcare.

This year’s budget reflects Council’s commitment to delivering for communities today while supporting an autonomous, prosperous and sustainable Torres Strait into the future.
